QuickStart Samples Accessing U2 Tables and Files Using IBM Data Server Provider for .NET

Fundamental examples of U2 data access using a .NET Windows application and the IBM Data Server Provider

U2 Account Setup

For this tutorial, use UniVerse 10.2 and UniData 7.1 databases (or later).
For more information on 1 NF View, refer the "UniVerse and UniData Database preparation" section of Part 1.

UniVerse

This tutorial uses the HS.SALES account or database which is part of the UniVerse Installation. Download and extract the Basic routines from BP_UV.zip into the BP directory of that account. Compile and run the routine called U2NP_WINSAMP_SETUP. This routine will create the required Files and populate them, and it will also compile and catalog the other Basic routines required.

UniData

This tutorial uses the demo account or database which is part of the UniData Installation. Download and extract the Basic routines from BP_UDT.zip into the BP directory of that account. Compile and run the routine called U2NP_WINSAMP_SETUP. This routine will create the required Files and populate them, as well as set up some of the Files for 1NF (SQL) access as Tables. The routine will also compile and catalog the other Basic routines required.

Tips

  • Tune Server Side services file. For example, Open 'C:\IBM\unishared\unirpc\unirpcservices' file and increase the time out.

    uvserver C:\IBM\UV\bin\uvsrvd.exe * TCP/IP 0 864000
    udserver C:\IBM\ud72\bin\udsrvd.exe * TCP/IP 0 864000

  • If you plan to use the IBM Database Add-ins (which is not used in this tutorial), it is highly recommended that your UniVerse or UniData account name not contain a DOT (.). IBM Database Add-ins cannot properly parse 'SCHEMA.TABLE' if the account name contains a DOT (.).
